2026年9月19日（土）から22日（火）までの4日間、新宿高島屋 2階 JR口特設会場で開かれた「2026 秋のクリエーターズマーケット」に出店しました。ヴィンテージの着物をアップサイクルした and Kimono（ときもの）から、「蓑亀と宝袋」と「すもも」のシリーズを中心に、実際に手に取って質感や柄をお確かめいただける形でご紹介しました。
TSURUTO = Tsuruto (鶴渡, "crane crossing")
We named ourselves Tsuruto after the image of a crane soaring across the sky — Japanese culture taking flight and crossing the sea to the world.
The crane has long been loved as a symbol of Japan and is rooted in Japanese culture as a sign of good fortune. Just as there are countless paintings, symbols, songs and objects devoted to cranes, its graceful form and bearing have captivated people in Japan for generations.
Like a crane crossing the sea, we aim to share wonderful things carrying Japanese culture, spirit and craftsmanship with the world, and bring them to many people.
Weaving Wa
"A new form of Wa, weaving Japan and the world"
The wisdom of Wa handed down by our forebears rested on the reason of nature, and that wisdom made life simpler. As this country's culture came into harmony with others, it advanced into something more refined and its own.
At TSURUTO, under the theme of "walking alongside the workings of life," we make and select things to wear, to put on, to adorn, and to use. The heart of that making and choosing lies in the cycle of nature, and in speaking to a new, contemporary sensibility.
We deliver a new form of Wa, where inherited Japanese wisdom and aesthetics blend with a creative sensibility from across borders.
The Tsuruto team｜Our Team
A duo, and the many makers we work with
Tsuruto is a team built around a duo: designer and art director Tomoko Okata, and creative director Koki Unami.
At our small atelier in Tokyo, we handle design and photography together with our staff. The making happens with Japanese craftspeople, creators and artists. Every craft we currently carry is made by hand by Japanese artisans, and we introduce each of them by name.

Our Approach
Tsuruto Atelier
A short walk from Omotesando in Tokyo, down past the garden of the Nezu Museum, is the Tsuruto Atelier. Here we hold Kimonotoki fitting consultations two to three times a week, along with open days to view "Tsuruto Hina."
Visits are by reservation, so please book before you come.

Making
Working with Japanese craftspeople
Design and photography happen mainly at our atelier, while tailoring and crafts are carried out by craftspeople across Japan: hina doll dressers in Koshigaya, folding screens from Sumida, paulownia boxes from Kita-Koshigaya, lanterns from Yame and Gifu, woodwork from Tochigi and Nagano, and lacquer from Saitama. Each pair of hands, and the skills passed down to them, give our pieces their beauty.
