We received a cherished kurotomesode (the most formal black kimono, worn at weddings) from our client, and utilizing its prestigious hem pattern, we tailored it into a daily Tsuki sleeveless blouse. This piece, holding the memories of celebratory days, breathes new life as contemporary attire and shines once again.
Design decisions
To showcase the luxurious Tsuru-bishi (crane and diamond) pattern spreading across the hem like a single painting, the silhouette is kept as a simple A-line Tsuki sleeveless blouse. The beautiful outline of the pattern is used directly as the hem design, creating an asymmetrical and dynamic expression. The neckline is finished with a clean V-neck so that the elegance of the black harmonizes wonderfully with the brilliance of gold and vermilion.
Fabric and tailoring
We tailored the piece to produce a beautiful drape, making the most of the supple fabric fall unique to kurotomesode. We carefully unpicked the kimono, and meticulously positioned and cut the fabric so that the most striking pattern comes to the center of the front. Cutting along the outlines of the pattern required special care, forming the core of this one-of-a-kind special design.

Simply pairing it with simple trousers or a skirt completes a dignified and glamorous outfit. It is perfect for dining with friends, theater visits, or anniversary outings.
