We received an Oshima tsumugi (a finely woven pongee silk) with a delicate woven pattern and soft, pale tones. Preserving the refined elegance of the original kimono, we tailored it into a Cha button dress that easily integrates into everyday style. It is a light and comfortable piece that brings a wonderful touch to daily life.
Design decisions
The clean A-line silhouette highlights the delicate horizontal patterns. A stand collar adds a graceful touch to the neckline, and you can enjoy different styling options by cinching the waist with the matching fabric belt.
Fabric and tailoring
We tailored this piece while honoring the lightweight quality and supple firmness unique to Oshima tsumugi. We carefully arranged the pattern pieces so that the horizontally flowing designs look their best in western-wear form. We crafted this dress to bring out the appeal of the fabric, making the most of a single kimono bolt while ensuring ease of movement.
