We received a gorgeous furisode (a long-sleeved formal kimono worn on celebratory occasions) featuring bold curved lines and colorful flowers. The customer chose the Cha button dress, characterized by its front-opening design. The luxurious pattern unique to a furisode has been reborn as a modern, one-of-a-kind piece.
Placing the pattern
We planned the cutting to make the most of the furisode's charming, large curved pattern along the vertical lines of the dress. Starting from the flowers standing out against the black ground of the right bodice, we ensured a natural flow of the pattern from the right to the left bodice, bringing out the appeal of asymmetry. The garment is tailored so that the pattern flowing from the hem blooms gracefully around the neckline.
Fabric and silhouette
The draping quality of the furisode fabric uses its natural weight to create an elegant A-line silhouette for the Cha button dress without flaring too much. Catching the light, the orange base color and gold accents glow softly, adding depth to the simple shape.
The finished piece
Worn open like a coat, or buttoned up as a dress. This has become a standout piece that highlights the wearer's individuality. For special occasions where you want to dress up, such as visiting an art museum or attending a party, this treasured furisode will shine in a new setting.
