From Bakas, Bali

Bakas is a small village in Bali, deeply lush with bananas, coconuts, alocasias, and a myriad of other tropical flora. This is a visual record of a photography session featuring Yudi, a young local resident, wearing an upcycled kimono "Yue" shirt, captured by Creative Director Koki Unami.

A small village — Bakas, Bali.

A young man clad in a karakusa shirt, standing in a land brimming with vitality. The scene captured through the viewfinder feels remarkably natural. I release the shutter, feeling a blend of novelty and nostalgia in the kimono fabric's presence—a sight unfound in the city. Though not a professional model, he effortlessly reveals a singular expression of Kimono-fuku.

A project that curates a wide world of Japanese aesthetics and kimono fabrics in our own way, making new garments with kimono at their essence.
