About Pattern & Material

▫️ Technique: Kasuri (ikat), hand embroidery
Kasuri is a technique passed down widely across South, East and Southeast Asia. Here the motifs read almost like characters, with hand embroidery worked in here and there.
We can only guess, but flowers, mountains, a mortar, fish scales, and other motifs repeat across the cloth, as if passing something down. As the fabric is thin and slightly crisp, hand embroidery has been added here and there, partly to reinforce it.
